Drying time varies with humidity, temperature and airflow, but generally carpets take 6 to 12 hours to dry fully. To speed things up, run fans in the cleaned rooms and adjust your heating or A/C. A room temperature between 70°F and 80°F is ideal for drying.

Try to stay off the freshly cleaned carpet until it's dry — about 6 hours. If you must walk on it sooner, use extreme caution: the spots where carpet meets a hard surface like tile or hardwood can be very slippery.
